Hello, my name is Bartosz and I've been interested in games since I was 7 years old. At that time I got familiar with StarCraft, well it was rather a random mouse clicking than playing. However it turned out to be a starting point for my journey through games. When I got my first PC as my 10 years old birthday gift, I started to play Test Drive and other racing games, for example Need For Speed Carbon. The changing point occurred in 2012 when I discovered the Mass Effect series and other BioWare games. In my point of view, BioWare developed me as a gamer.
Nowadays I highly admire Larian Studios for making great RPG games, especially Divinity Original Sin and Divinity Original Sin 2. Those are only examples of games that influenced me, I'm eager to tell you about another in person.
Moving forward, in 2018 I decided to go to Kazimierz Wielki University to study game design and games studies. I graduated after 3 years of making games of different genres and for multiple platforms. After that I hold a BSc degree in Game Design and Game Studies. My thesis is about choices affecting gameplay and the game world in modern video games. Picking that topic was dictated by my already mentioned love for highly story driven RPG games with choices mechanics.
From my standpoint, video games are not just entertainment, they are the evolution of books and films. You can read books and watch cinematics in games, as well as feel the interactive experience. Decision which I made in 2018 was one of the best decisions of my current life. For me designing and creating games is something more than passion and love, it is simply the way of life.
I'm a highly ambitious person and I've always been dreaming of creating high quality narrative, gameplay and graphics in AAA games. My biggest life goal is to attend The Game Awards and pick up Best Game of the Year Award.
Update 1.0
I'm back here after three years and decided not to change anything but rather build upon it. My initial text, which you can obviously see above, was very honest, and I think it would be sad to change it now.
Anyway, a lot has changed; I’ve grown as a professional designer, worked on Sports: Renovations for over three years, and stepped into the role of lead and director of the entire game. I developed a lot of soft skills, including communication and teamwork, and met new colleagues. some of whom I can now call friends.
I also had the opportunity to attend major game industry events like GDC 2023 and PAX West 2024, which helped me grow even further. In terms of design and technical skills, I’ve learned a lot about documentation, cross-department collaboration, narrative design, and game production.
It’s really nice to look back at all my projects in my personal "vault" and see how much I’ve grown as a developer over these past five years.
